As an artist/educator I'm naturally passionate about coaching and developing workshop programs and talks to support the creative development in others.
In recent years, alongside running workshops and events through Go Create, I've been successful in winning a number of grants, awards and an Artist-In-Residence. The most recent in 2023 was a Kent Investment Award to run a community project entitled 'Making Margate' Prior to this I won a Build Back Better Grant in 2022. In 2021 and 2022 I won 6 separate 'Reconnect Grants' to run events through Youth Clubs in different Kent Districts to support youth reconnect with their pre-pandemic lives. Earlier in 2021 I undertook an Artist in Residence in Broadstairs College which included included creative coaching as well as running marketing and business skills.
Past successes include:
Another project included a presentation and guided walk on Margate's bathing history to complement an A'level Art trip to Margate and a project entitled 'beneath the surface'. The same project was run with a year 3 class at Lawrence College in Ramsgate.
As well as testing and developing some specific courses or project material myself I also pull together teams or specialist art or craftworkers where needed or to facilitate larger scale events. For example a request to deliver wheel pottery at Facebook Headquarter for staff involved taking 13 potters wheels into central London and recruiting Nam Tran and Clover Lee (potters/ previous contestants on Pottery Throwdown plus a technician).
